Post Op Patient Satisfaction
Laser procedures took off like a rocket in the mid 90’s, until patients had to suffer with prolonged redness.

Now medical offices and spas can offer an instant solution to post-op redness. Nurses, esthticians or makeup artists can treat the patient with a mineral makeup camouflage lesson.

Some medical procedures take days, weeks or months for the patient to see improvement. Mineral cosmetics can instantly cover redness from roscea, laser procedures, and even acne. Patients understand that procedures can take a while for results, but when they look in the mir-ror and are uncomfortable with their reflection, they want something to hide the redness, right now.

Traditionally camouflage cosmetics were heavy, greasy and totally unsuitable for sensitive or acneic skins. Mineral cosmetics not only offer coverage but also a healthy way to treat the skin.

Here’s what the beauty pros have to say about jane iredale

Unsung "Product" Hero: Dimethicone
The benefits of micronized titanium dioxide and zinc oxide in mineral powders are well known, but there is one ingredient that up until now hasn't had much attention, even though it's been around a long time. "It has come into the limelight because it is having such positive effects for rosacea sufferers," says Iredale. "The ingredient is dimethicone, also known as Organo Silicone. According to Dr. Geoffrey Nase's book, Beating Rosacea (excellent reading, by the way): and "a recent medical article in "Cutis" [a peer-reviewed medical journal] by Dr. Nichols and colleagues, found that the addition of silicon-based protectants (dimethicone and cyclomethicone) in sunscreens greatly reduced facial irritation that rosacea sufferers experience to these products. The physicians performed this study because in their medical experience, patients with rosacea are particularly susceptible to irritation caused by sunscreen ingredients. In addition to their protective actions, dimethicone and cyclomethicone were found to have excellent moisturizing actions."

Note: Iredale Mineral Cosmetics uses dimethicone as a pressing agent in its pressed powders. Derived from silica, the molecules are manipulated so that they flow, therefore replacing the need for oil.

Men and Medical Spas: New products Just for Men
Iredale Mineral Cosmetics has just introduced a
new line of mineral bronzes called H/E into the exploding men's skincare marketplace. Now, H/E, a microbrand of the 11 year old color cosmetics business features 5 shades of mineral based, SPF 18 pressed powder foundations, called Bronzes. Each H\E matte finish Bronzer, which doubles as a concealer, is billed as a water-resistant "dry" sunscreen designed to "make the skin look better and to not look like there is anything on the skin”, said Theresa Robison, Director of Business Development for Iredale Mineral Cosmetics. H\E also includes an applicator brush that's designed to resemble an old-fashioned men's shaving brush, a lip balm, and a microfiber wash glove. All of these items are included in the kit, which retails for $58. Individual items range in price from $12 for the lip balm to $42 for each Bronzer.

H\E products feature titanium dioxide, a natural sunscreen and anti-inflammatory ingredient said to help address acne, rosacea and redness;
zinc oxide for it's antimicrobial benefits and pomegranate extract as an anti-oxidant.

"Men's suncare and bronzing represents a huge growth opportunity. With men accounting for over 20% of the spa and plastic surgery visit, it's a perfect fit for post treatment care," said Robinson.
