 Moor mud is one of the oldest beauty and wellness treatment products and has withstood the test of time proving to be a highly effective product for spa treatments.
Muds of various types have been used for healing for hundreds, if not thousands of years. The advantage of Moor is that, unlike clays, fangoes, volcanic mud and dead sea mud which are primarily inorganic (mineral) in content, moor has a much higher ratio of organic substances. The advantage is that organic substances can be absorbed by the body up to 16 times more effectively than inorganic substances (minerals)
Not all moor mud is created equally. There are 3 types of moor – high moor (hochmoor) which is the most common and is relatively inert from a therapeutic standpoint; low moor (flachmoor) which is much rarer but more beneficial; and deep moor (tiefenmoor), of which there is only one known source in the world located in Vorarlberg in Austria, and which is the most concentrated, refined, pure and therapeutic variety.
The Vorarlberg Deep Moor is used for therapeutic applications at over 30 conventional hospitals and rehabilitation clinics throughout Austria. The moor is simply excavated from level up to 40 feet below ground level, passed through a series of filters to remove any debris then blended with water to create various applications. Most commercially available moor sources are from high moor sources and are mechanically processed - some are even chemically preserved.
In addition to the pure moor which is used for facial mask, body mask, bath and internal food supplement, Moor Spa also imports a moor extract from the Deep Moor suppliers in Austria. This rich, black moor water contains all of the water soluble nutrients, but in a liquid form.
