The plus-side of the enormous Atlantis, Paradise Island resort, which at the height of its season can claim more transient occupants than most rural cities have in population, is that because of its size, it is able to offer an incredible variety of activities, which appeal to a broad spectrum of guests. The resort is globally appealing and attracts singles to entire families; a huge draw for the “kids” is the “Discovery Camp”, resort library and “Club Rush”, a music and video excursion for "tweens" and teens.

The resort is also a haven for the sports enthusiast, offering tennis, golf, snorkeling, para-sailing, jet skiing, kayaking, heart throbbing-adrenalin pumping water slides, etc. Another major tourist draw is the incredible detailing in how this resort has re-created the legend of the sunken city of Atlantis. This marvel of creativity and ingenuity is comprised of sunken nautical artifacts and sci-fi inspired deep sea gear and transport vehicles, all submerged in over 11 million gallons of water, including over 50,000 aquatic creatures representing over 200 species of “fishies”; a guided tour of this visual wonder is offered and another must-do while at the resort.

There’s also a 24/7 casino, where folks can go to smoke a stogie or two, quaff some brew, and play the one-armed bandits, or try lady luck’s breath at the tables. That great “any-time” sport of shopping is another must-do at the resort; and with its eclectic variety of shops to choose from, the real guest favorite is to lollygag in the arcade, where trendy designer shops become the featured attraction, and guests can wishfully contemplate the likes of Gucci, Versace and Cartier, for example.

With countless dining experiences to please all palates and pocket books, guests will experience creative and innovative food fare no matter where they decide to go. And, make sure to bring your camera and plenty of film, because you’ll want to snap a lot of shots of the fabulous glass sculptures found throughout the resort and casino, special commissions by master artisan, Dale Chiuhuli; themed to represent the seasons, they’re breathtaking.

This resort’s Mandara Spa lives up to being exceptional, healing and restorative, the signature of the Mandara Spa branding.

A recent trek to Nassau, Bahamas, reminded me of the visual bounty I have been blessed with and privileged to see. That said, a few days at Atlantis, Paradise Island to experience their Mandara Spa, and a quick side trip to visit the One&Only Ocean Club and their One&Only Spa (operated by Mandara), offered a bit of contrast between the two properties, and especially the two spas.
