Pampering With A Purpose
Delivering scientifically measurable results
Computerized Skin Analysis

Despite these highly pleasurable services, though, this medical spa's most stellar offerings involve the latest cutting-edge medical/cosmetic treatments with clinically proven results. Even skin care analysis is cutting-edge at Q the Medical Spa, with therapists frequently foregoing the use of a traditional Woods lamp in favor of a Visia™ Skin Complexion Analysis.

"Unlike day spas, our goal is to always deliver scientifically measurable results, says Dr. Quatela. We use the Visia to analyze the skin because it represents the latest in computerized diagnostic equipment. It can help save the skin from rapid aging by accurately diagnosing adverse conditions that may not show on the surface of the skin for another ten years.”

Because this state-of-the-art machine also clearly identifies specific types of damage in the skin-sun damage or severe dehydration, for instance--our medical therapists can accurately prescribe a treatment program and home care regimen that targets specific conditions, and even help circumvent visible damage to the skin.

"We also use the Visia to accurately measure the improvement in the skin midway and after a series of therapies." To ensure the best outcome for patients, Dr. Quatela relates that Q the Medical Spa also carries multiple skincare brands, including medical-grade lines that can only be prescribed by a physician.

Cutting Edge Beauty

While day spas typically rely on ultra-hydrating services and even sticky honey treatments to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, Q the Medical Spa quite often combines a nutritive facial or Intense Pulse Light (IPL) facial to improve the texture or appearance of the skin, along with Botox™ and/or a variety of dermal fillers that can instantly correct wrinkles by as much as 100 percent!

Q the Medical Spa also offers laser hair removal; Photoderm™ (IPL) facials to even out the complexion, treat surface capillaries, and enhance the overall quality of the skin; sclerotherapy (vein treatments) on the face and body; as well as Endermologie™ to smooth out the appearance of dimpling caused by cellulite. Medical-grade microdermabrasion is also offered on a series basis. Q the Medical Spa uses a crystal-less system, making it far healthier for both practitioner and patient. Cosmetic and medical chemical peels are also sought-after services. Intense Programs-a series of appointments that involve a medley of different treatments-bring about the best possible results without having surgery.

Diagnosing adverse conditions

Q the Medical Spa offers skincare treatments with a medical twist:
- Laser hair removal
- Non-surgical corrective facials
- Microdermabrasion
- Corrective peels
- Photorejuvenation
- Botox
- Dermal fillers
- Endermologie

According to medical spa director Joan Lucas, "Our medical spa allows patients to combine pampering and medical treatments in a wonderful setting. Patients can have an IPL facial (photorejuvenation) to treat rosacea or uneven skin tones (including brown spots or melasma), followed by a leisurely soak in our hydrotherapy tub. Men frequently have a laser hair removal session along with a corrective-and relaxing-facial that may include a light chemical peel to make their skin look more clear and healthie. We also offer infrared sauna sessions to warm the muscles before doing deep tissue work-a therapy that's excellent for week-end warriors who have overdone it on the playing field."

Plastic surgery patients are also given the royal (and therapeutic) advantage of having pre- and post-operative spa treatments. After a facelift, for instance, lymphatic drainage (a very light, specialized massage) is performed to reduce swelling and speed up the healing process. A shoulder massage is often done a few days after a breast augmentation procedure to help reduce the tension in this area, as well as to relax the patient. After a prescribed amount of time, liposuction patients may also opt to have a few Endermologie treatments (the only cellulite treatment approved by the FDA) to create an ultra-smooth result.

"Most cosmetic surgery patients cannot shampoo their hair, or take a shower for the first few days following surgery," adds Dr. Quatela. "On the third day after many surgeries, patients can come to our facility and have their hair washed, their shoulders massaged, and receive a comprehensive lesson in camouflage makeup so they can go about their daily activities with confidence. We generally include three spa visits with most of our plastic surgeries. The difference these spa visits make in how good our patients feel about themselves, and their entire surgical experience, is amazing."
