THE EQUINOX IN VERMONT
Indigenous Treatments Range from a Maple Sugar
scrub to a Red Clover Lotion
Following a multi-million dollar renovation, the Equinox, a member of the RockResorts family of properties, unveiled the new Avanyu Spa in January 2003. The 13,000 sq. ft. full service resort spa reflects the beauty and nature of Vermont's pristine environment in both its treatments and the spa's interior. The Avanyu Spa captures the natural energy and healing atmosphere permeating the surrounding mountains, trees and water flowing freely from the famed Equinox Springs.

"There's never been a greater need for real, complete relaxation and renewal than right now,"said Gary Thulander, General Manager of the 233-year-old Equinox property. "Our extensive planning and investment in creating the new spa was to provide our guests a highly personalized experience while giving them a sense of place in beautiful, peaceful Vermont."

• Specially prepared spa cuisine created by Executive Chef Mary Nearn formerly of the Five Diamond Boulders Resorts in Carefree, AZ, integrated with the Resort's fine dining experiences.
• Cardio Room with complete line of cardiovascular and strength training equipment.
• A dedicated staff of professional spa therapists and personal trainers.

Indigenous Treatments

Some of the more unique treatments offered by the Avanyu Spa that embody the true spirit of Vermont are as follows:

• Maple Scrub, which uses pure Vermont maple sugar to scrub and exfoliate the skin.

• Equinox Essential, a head-to-toe treatment that incorporates Vermont's state flower, the Red Clover, a natural anti-oxidant.

• Mountain Man Facial, a rejuvenating facial designed for men who are exposed to harsh weather conditions.

• Spirit of Vermont, a combination of Reiki, Reflexology and Massage to relieve stress and gain energy, as well as focus.

The opening at the Equinox marks the seventh Avanyu Spa, joining luxury spas at other RockResorts in Palm Springs, Santa Fe, Sausalito, Snake River and the Florida Keys.

The Avanyu Spa brand is named for the restorative and life-giving power of water and is a Tewa Native American name for the mythical water serpent. While the design and mission of every Avanyu Spa draws upon the natural elements of the surrounding region to create a spa experience like no other, each spa embodies the unique landscape and distinctiveness of its destination.
