Heidel House Heritage
Since 1945 (New Year’s Eve, to be exact), Heidel House has offered people a place to relax, unwind and reflect on the people and things that are important. Once a private residence, the fledgling restaurant grew in size and reputation to become a unique, family-run retreat. By the 1970s, it had become one of the most popular destination resorts in the state.

In 1975, Heidel House purchased Grey Rock Mansion. Brigadier General Mason Brayman, a decorated Civil War hero, built the original Grey Rock in 1873. In 1899, Edward Morris of Chicago and his wife, Helen Swift (of the Swift Meat Packing Company), purchased the property and built a larger summer home for their family. Years later, in 1949, their son built the mansion that stands here now. In 1989 it was converted into an intimate lakeside restaurant and lounge, where it quickly became the critically acclaimed restaurant that it is today.

During the late 1980s, the Lac Verde Lodge was built to add more luxurious lakeside rooms, as well as the Conference Center. In the early 90s, construction on the Main Lodge was completed. Encompassing 20 picturesque acres of wooded land, on the shores of Wisconsin's deepest inland lake, Heidel House Resort is a great place to visit when you need a break from your busy life. And you long to reconnect with the people who mean the most to you. From luxurious accommodations in the Main Lodge and Lac Verde to the unique estate buildings, like Carriage House and the Bungalow, there’s something to suit nearly any desire. From business groups to families, friends and couples, everyone can relax and spend quality time with us. Since 1945, for business and pleasure, Heidel House remains unparalleled in Wisconsin and the Midwest.
