Bernard Burt tracks spa industry trends as a consultant on resort
concepts for developers, hotel chains, and cruise ship lines.

Drawing on his experience in retailing, design, and marketing, Bernie has been involved in growing the market for spa vacations and day spas or nearly 15 years. His new book "100 Best Spas of the World," co-authored with Pamela Lechtman, published by The Globe Pequot Press (www.globe-pequot.com), is an essential guide to today's lifestyle marketing.

His career in tourism marketing began in the 1960s with the McGettigan corporate travel group in Philadelphia, creating award-winning sales promotion campaigns for sponsors of incentive travel rewards that build brand loyalty and teamwork.

Commissioned by Random House to write a guidebook for spagoers, he authored "Fodor's Healthy Escapes," a best-seller now in its seventh edition. As a founding member and executive director of the International Spa Association, he organized the industry's first conferences in America (1991) and Europe (1996).
